For those of us who haven't crossed everything off of our Christmas shopping list or those of us who just realized we are missing the final touches, I have the simple and effective solutions to your stress. Now grab the milk and cookies, let's begin!
-Avoid Online, Shop Local-
When you're trying to pull all of your gifts together last minute, there is no time for waiting for the last package to arrive. While online is my go to for most gift shopping, last minute is not the time. For those last minute gifts, go to your local boutiques or arts stores to pick up the perfect gift. This year I ventured to one of my favorite little cities to pick up a few handmade gifts for my friends. Another great option is to use Etsy! Kristen Shane has an amazing shop, called Painted Grace by KS. She makes adorable painted canvases, plus they are customizable! Check her out! The attention to detail and personalized touch will make all the difference in the end.
-Make it Personal-
Whenever I am crafting my gift list, I always try to add a personal touch to each gift. I love adding either a framed picture, their favorite candy, or even just a souvenir from a memory you and that person share. Adding something sentimental takes more time and thought, but those kind of gifts hold a special place in people's hearts.
I plan everything... So I'm sure this won't come as a surprise to those who know me. But, I start each shopping season with a list of what I'm getting everyone. I also create a budget of how much I can spend. This is a very important part, especially when you're trying not to blow your year of hard work. In Dallas, there are hundreds of shopping locations to choose from, which can be overwhelming. By starting online, I can compare prices and look for deals. After I have found the best deals, I make note of them and head out for the shops. Don't waste money on fancy wrapping paper, it will just get torn apart anyway. The Dollar Store has plenty of festive options, as well as every ribbon color you can dream of. This year I also decided to attach a candy cane to each person's gift. Just to spread a little extra holiday cheer. Save your money for the gift, not the wrapping.
